BREACHER / Field guide

Coin risk signals.

Learn to question the permissions, the pool and the people behind the chart. Hype is easy to see. Risk takes a closer look.

01 / Read the evidence

Four places risk can hide.

Who controls the contract?

Mint, freeze or changeable permissions

On Solana, retained mint authority can allow more tokens to be issued; freeze authority can restrict token accounts. On EVM networks, owner privileges, upgradeable contracts or changeable fees may alter trading conditions.

Verify: Inspect the exact permissions and who holds them. Revoked mint authority alone does not remove every other risk.

Can liquidity disappear?

Thin pools or removable liquidity

Liquidity is what allows a swap to execute. A large valuation can sit on a tiny pool. Liquidity removal can leave holders unable to sell at anything close to the displayed price.

Verify: Verify the correct pool, LP ownership and any reported lock expiry. Bonding curves and migrated pools differ; do not assume every launch uses the same liquidity model.

Who holds the supply?

Concentrated or related wallets

A few wallets controlling much of the supply can create heavy selling pressure. A single wallet list may understate concentration when holdings are spread across related addresses.

Verify: Separate pool, burn and custody accounts from private holders. Wallet links are clues, not proof that all addresses share an owner.

Can holders actually sell?

Selling restrictions or changeable taxes

A honeypot may allow purchases while preventing normal sales. Whitelists, blacklists, transaction limits or excessive taxes can also trap or penalize holders. Supported GoPlus EVM reports flag some of these conditions.

Verify: Read the individual findings and coverage. A historical sale or one successful simulation does not guarantee future selling will work.

02 / Image ≠ evidence

A coin picture tells only one story.

An appealing character is branding—not evidence of secure permissions, healthy liquidity or a verified team.

A name suggesting technology or automation is not proof of a working product. Investigate the claims and the exact token address.

A recognizable profile helps identify a token. It does not tell you who controls its supply or whether selling conditions can change.

03 / Understand the mechanisms

What a rug pull can look like.

The diagrams below are hypothetical teaching examples—not screenshots of real coins.

Hypothetical / not a real token

Liquidity withdrawal

BeforeAfter

A party able to withdraw pool liquidity removes it. The displayed price can become misleading because there is little liquidity left for an exit.

Evidence to seek: Look for pool withdrawal transactions, LP ownership and the timing of liquidity changes—not just a red candle.

Hypothetical / not a real token

Concentrated supply dump

BeforeAfter

Large holders sell into demand, sharply reducing price. This can be abusive when tied to deception, but a sell-off by itself is not proof of a rug pull.

Evidence to seek: Compare holder transfers, swap transactions and wallet concentration. Separate documented behavior from assumptions about intent.

04 / Avoid the shortcuts

Pause before you commit.

  • Do not chase a ticker alone.Copycat tokens can reuse names and images. Match the contract address and network against independent original sources.
  • Do not trade on guaranteed-return claims.Urgency, private DMs and pressure to buy before checking are reasons to stop and investigate.
  • Do not equate volume with trust.Automated or coordinated trading can create apparent demand. Volume is context, not proof of genuine adoption.
  • Do not sign unexplained wallet requests.Read spending permissions. Avoid unlimited approvals to unknown contracts and never share a seed phrase.
  • Do not overlook exit conditions.Understand slippage, available liquidity and fees. A quoted price is not a guaranteed executable sale price.

A repeatable research routine.

  1. 01Confirm the token address and network.
  2. 02Read individual contract findings and unknown fields.
  3. 03Inspect liquidity, authorities and holder context.
  4. 04Open original reports and check their timestamps.
  5. 05Question promotional claims and decide whether the uncertainty is acceptable.

BREACHER does not require a connected wallet. You can research public addresses without granting spending access.
